Almonds

Almond crop still on tree : Queensland CottonIn late 2009 and early 2010, Olam Orchards Australia acquired approximately 12,000 hectares of planted almond orchards from the liquidated Timbercorp group of companies. Along with the planted almond trees, Olam also acquired permanent water rights and sophisticated irrigation and orchard infrastructure. The orchards contain trees ranging in age from recently planted through to full maturity.

Almonds require a Mediterranean climate and are therefore commercially produced in only a few locations worldwide. Olam is therefore able to deliver new season almonds to global consumers on a constant basis due to Australian almonds being counter cyclical in season to other large almond growing regions such as California.

Our orchards predominantly grow Non Pareil, Carmel and Price varieties across 11 farms in the prime Sunraysia growing region in Victoria, Australia. Our highly mechanised farms utilize state of the art irrigation infrastructure and technology. We adopt the latest agronomy practices to produce maximum yields and superior quality almonds, and minimise pestilence.

Our almonds are processed at state of the art facilities to ensure consistent product quality, traceability and food safety. Olam has its own established marketing and distribution network in all major almond consuming regions, which enables us to provide superior customer service in all markets.
