Mt Tyson Seeds

The Australian Pulse Crop Specialists

Mt Tyson Seeds was established by Riverina Stockfeeds in the early 1980s and it was subsequently purchased by the O'Reilly family. Queensland Cotton then acquired Mt Tyson Seeds in November 2003.

Based at Mt Tyson, 40 kms west of Toowoomba in the heart of Queensland's Darling Downs, Mt Tyson Seeds specialises in contracting, processing and marketing pulse crops, predominantly mungbeans and chickpeas, and wholesaling and retailing pulse sowing seed. Mt Tyson Seeds also can provide prices for other grains such as sorghum, wheat and millets.

Mt Tyson Seeds draws grain from a wide geographical area, stretching from the Central Queensland Highlands, to Roma in the west, through the Darling Downs and border areas, south as far as Warren and west to Walgett in New South Wales.

Mt Tyson Seeds has established its name as a leading grass-roots accumulator from farmers and a supplier to leading exporters on a delivered port or delivered container terminal basis. In addition Mt Tyson Seeds exports pulses direct to consumer markets on the Sub Continent.
Mt Tyson Seeds has dedicated pulse and grain accumulators on staff that communicate directly with growers to offer our range of contracting options for their crops.

Growers can deliver directly to the Mt Tyson complex or to other third party storage facilities that we arrange each season. One of the few plants with AQIS CA (Certification Assurance) status, MTS employees carry out AQIS inspections on all export products on behalf of AQIS

Situated at Mt Tyson is an extensive silo complex. Mungbeans are segregated into individual farmer lots in line with AQIS hygiene guidelines. All bulk storage is in the form of aerated silos ranging from 100 tonne to 200 tonne. In early 2002 an additional silo complex was constructed bringing the total silo storage capacity to 10,000 tonne.
